Miloslav Ištvan Quartett is a young string quartet, which concentrates on interpretation of classical music, particularly on works of contemporary composers. This ensemble was founded in 2008 and its name got at the occasion of the commemorative concert of the composer Miloslav Ištvan.
During its existence, this ensemble performed many of interesting concerts, among others premieres for The Studio of contemporary Music in Brno and festival performances at the New Music Exposition, the New music encounters+, Janáček Brno, or the Forfest. In the season 2009/2010 the quartet issued debut CD with complete Miloslav Ištvan works for the string quartet, which was followed in 2012 by recordings of Jan Novák works for string quartet, and in 2013 by recordings of Composers of group „A“ works for string quartet.
The members of Miloslav Ištvan Quartett are Alexej Aslamas – violin, Jan Bělohlávek – violin, Stanislav Vacek – viola and Štěpán Filípek – cello.
